I’m a gardener in Anchorage who has worked in journalism and public relations. I enjoy spending time with other gardeners and “talking plants” with scientists and other knowledgeable plant people. I don’t consider myself an expert but I hope this website will be a fun place to collect and share tidbits about useful plants in northern climates.

Transcendental Gardening is a term I came up with to describe what I like about gardening. All it means is that I’m inspired by plants and enjoy the meditative qualities of gardening.
This site was created in March 2019 as a community service project for the Alaska Master Gardener Program. At the time of this writing, it’s unclear how long this website will continue, but my objective is to keep it going through 2019 and publish posts on a regular basis.
Your questions and insights about plants in Alaska and other northern regions are very welcome! You can post them in the comments or send them privately by email.
Thanks for visiting!
